A quest for Truth: Pre-Trib Rapture, theory or Truth? A look at 1 Thessalonians 5…

“Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, ‘There is peace and security,’ then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober” (1 Thessalonians 5).
Many famous teachers and preachers teach that there will be a secret rapture of believers seven years before the Day of the Lord, that it will be like a ‘thief in the night’. They reference this verse above in 1 Thessalonians, chapter five.
And, take it out of context.
Grab your Bible.  If you actually read this chapter, in context, this is not what this is saying at all. This scripture says word for word something different.  The Apostle Paul is speaking of the ‘day of the Lord’ when referencing a ‘thief in the night’ (see verse 2).  He gives the‘when’ – the ‘day of the Lord’.   He does not say ‘seven years prior to the day of the Lord’.
Biblically, there is only one ‘day of the Lord’, not two ‘days of the Lord”.
There is one return of Christ, not two.
There is one last trump, not two that are seven years apart.
Is there a ‘secret, pre-tribulation rapture’ that can be proven in scriptures?  Or, is it a theory that has been drilled into our minds?   Have we accepted it as Truth without being like the Bereans who search the scriptures for proof?
Search for Bible proof because theory is not truth.
Will multitudes of sincere believers who put their hope in a secret rapture that they were taught by a teacher, be suddenly disappointed and mad at God, possibly even falling away from the faith, if there isn’t one?  What effect will this have on believers if indeed it is false and just a theory?
Conclusion: 1 Thessalonians 5 verse concerning “like a thief in the night”, does not have anything to do with the secret rapture theory, and can no longer be used to support such a theory because the Apostle Paul did not leave us that option.
