Alert! Planning on attending the upcoming ‘Built to Last Conference’ with Benny and Wendy Perez in Las Vegas? Read this first! Why does Beni Johnson hug the graves of dead people? Necromancy in the church?

According to a Christian Post article, Benny Perez, pastor of the Church at South Las Vegas, will be hosting a three-day pastors’ conference on November 5-7, 2013.

Encouraging you to research before you go.

Yesterday, I was investigating Beni Johnson (Bill Johnson’s wife; Bethel Church in Redding, California).  Oddly, she had posted a photo of herself hugging a grave in a cemetery on her Twitter account for many people to see (see photo at the end of this article).  The Bible explicitly warns on the matter of interacting with the dead, sitting “among graves” (see KJV of Isaiah 65:4); particularly, speaking of God’s warning of “necromancy” in Deuteronomy 18:11 and Leviticus 20:27…

“Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.  Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD…” (Deut. 18:10-12)

Is this just a simple visit to the grave site of a loved one or an inspiring historical figure?  Or, is this true necromancy and/or spiritism?  Well, Beni and Bill Johnson have been associated with John Crowder.  In the following video, Crowder visits John Alexander Dowie’s grave site.  At the grave, he attempts to gain some sort of actual mystical, spiritual power and anointing from the dead bones of Dowie and teaches others to do the same!  Remember, Biblically, the spirits of dead people are in heaven or hell, but not in their bodies.  Not a simple stroll past a loved one’s gravestone.

Anyway, while scrolling through Beni Johnson’s Twitter account (@prayfor5) in shock due to the photo that she posted, I suddenly landed upon a page where Benny Perez popped up next to a few comments near another Johnson from Bethel Church in Redding, named Eric Johnson (see photo below).

If you are a pastor planning on attending this conference, I urge you to do your research on Bethel Church.  Be careful.  The Bible says we are to “mark and avoid” false teachers (Romans 16:17).  Here, Benny says that Christianity without the supernatural is nothing more than a philosophy.  Notice how Eric Johnson “retweeted” this statement.  This to me sounded a lot like Bill Johnson’s teachings.  We must remember that not all supernatural things are from God.  Some are, some are not (see Matthew 24:24).

Benny Perez can also be found on Jesus Culture’s website along with Bill Johnson.  For those of you who do not know, Jesus Culture is part of Bethel Church.  Here is what Jesus Culture says about their history on their own website:

“In the summer of 1999, the youth group led by Banning Liebscher at Bethel Church in Redding, California, launched the first Jesus Culture conference.”

Jesus Culture, Bill Johnson, Beni Johnson…all related.  Why is Benny Perez now appearing on these pages?

A lot of research has been done on this site for you, so feel free to browse topics such as Jesus Culture, Bill Johnson, etc.

Here is a photo of Benny Perez’s sermon located on the Jesus Culture website.  Yes, that’s Bill Johnson there in the photo.  Johnson teaches a different form of hypostatic union (divinity of Christ) and says little white feathers fall on him many places he goes (see article link on bottom of page for direct quotations from Johnson’s books)…

As you can see above, Benny Perez’s name is appearing with Jesus Culture which is part of Bethel Church.

Do your own research and be careful.  Test all things (1 John 4:1).  The Bible makes clear that the spirits of dead people are not in the graves.  We can get no “anointing” nor hidden knowledge from a dead carcass!  The Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:8 that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (for the born-again believer).  The spirit of the person is absent from the body – no longer there.  Hugging or rubbing or laying hands on a grave will not make us any better.  (But worse, in my opinion!).

Now, some of you may be thinking, is the photo of Beni hugging a grave really from her twitter account?  Valid question.  The answer is yes.  To prove this for yourself, visit the official Bethel Church website here.  Once you are on the page, scroll down to the bottom left and click ‘follow us on Twitter’.  You can clearly see that Bethel Church Twitter “retweets” Beni Johnson’s posts.  See following photo for proof.  The conclusion is that Beni Johnson @prayfor5 really is the wife of Bill Johnson.
